A Wonderful Time of the Year!

Hello again!  In this my second attempt to write a blog I am sitting at the kitchen table watching my boys create Christmas Ornaments.  So I thought I would share my joy and reflection that I once had around this joyous season.

I was very blessed to grow up and be raised in this community of Vegreville and attend our Catholic Schools.  As fate would have it I came back to teach here as well. The joy around Christmas therefore has always been that this season is about the birth of Christ.

I discovered how much it meant to me to teach the story Jesus one year when I was at home on maternity leave.  As I sat at home taking care of our first son I truly missed not teaching the story of Christmas.  I often think of that often and take the time to be thankful that I teach in a Catholic school and appreciate how it has shaped me as a mother, wife, daughter, sister and teacher.

This week as you enter St. Martin's you will see the excitement building.  Christmas trees are appearing, the sounds of Christmas concert practices echo in the halls and for me it fills my heart with joy. As we grow closer to the day of celebration I pray that God's love fills your home and that you and your family have many blessings in the new year ahead.  I hope that your children too will one day feel as blessed as I do to have attended a Catholic school.

All about me

Hello!  This is my first attempt at a blog, I have to say that I am nervous about what to write.  I guess this is giving me an example of how my students must feel when I tell them to write in their Journals.

This school year, 2014-15, I am in a new position at St. Martin's Catholic school.  I am teaching Grade 3 and am the Assistant Principal.  I have been here at St. Martin's for many years and I cherish the opportunity that I have to live and work in this awesome community of Vegreville.

In my career I have taught grades 1, 2 and 3.  I have always been passionate about teaching younger children and have loved the chances that I have had to create a classroom family with these youngsters.

I am proud to say that besides teacher I can also say that I am a wife, and mother to two active boys who are both students here at St.Martin's.

I hope I remember to take the time to continue to share my teacher journey with you...
